MISSIONARY NEWS

From Tom Harkness......................

We still need contributions for the Londonderry Ward missionary fund!!!

Sister Barbara Madsen Moosman:
Sister Nancy Daines gave us an update on Sister Moosman formerly Madsen who is suffering from a brain tumor.

“Barbara (Madsen) Moosman has just learned she has terminal cancer.  Yesterday, July 13th, she underwent surgery to remove another enlarged tumor. Since her first surgery, the tumors have doubled in size.   She has a great attitude and is at peace.  Because of this second surgery she may live for a year, which she hopes will be of quality time.  Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers”

Please keep Sister Moosman in your prayers. I am sure her family would appreciate your faith and prayers on her behalf.

Raymond and Irene Lowry:
I just learned yesterday that Sister Irene Lowry was taken to a London hospital to have surgery this morning. I talked to Andrew Lowry this morning and he said his mother had been in surgery for about six and one-half hours. He did not know which hospital Irene was taken to in London. I am sure the Lowry’s would appreciate your faith and prayers on behalf of Irene. In addition to Irene’s hospitalization Raymond’s mother passed away last week. She was in her nineties. All those who worked in Lisburn should remember her. Raymond and Irene are scheduled to be released as the London Temple President on or about November 1, 2013. The temple in London is scheduled to be shut down the middle of September for extensive remodeling and will reopen in late October or early November.

Elder Michael May:
Elder Micheal May and his wife were recently released from the Las Vegas Temple Presidency. They have accepted a mission call to Seattle Washington to work in the CES program. We wish them god speed in their new assignment.

Sister Harper:
Sister Harper of the Cavehill/ Shankill area passed away last month. She was in her nineties. Three of Sister Harper’s daughters, Betty, Rose and Sadie were baptized along with other related family members during the Covey era. She lived in the Bungalows on Belfast Lough. When I visited her in 2005 she lived on Mt Vernon Road near Fort William Park. She was a kind and gracious lady. I am sure her family misses her.

Sister Sandra Covey:
Sister Covey looks much stronger since her three bouts with pneumonia earlier in the year. I saw her Sunday evening at her home. She expressed her love for all of the missionaries and wanted to especially invite all of the Elders and Sisters to the Irish Mission Reunion in October.

Fall Reunion:
The reunion will be on Friday October 4, 2013 at the 20th Ward in Salt Lake City, Utah 109 “G” Street
