LAST CHANCE TO SUBMIT COVEY EXPERIENCE

We have received some great responses to our request for your experiences with President and Sister Covey. We plan to read some of them at the reunion. There are funny experiences, spiritual experiences and experiences that fall in between. Please send us your experiences with the Coveys. We will either provide all the experiences with the Coveys on a CD or in a printed volume depending on the cost.

COVEY VIDEO TRIBUTE

The video tribute to President Covey produced by Steve Carter’s
company and shown at the October 2012 reunion is currently
available at: http://user.xmission.com/~sgc/coveyvideotribute/.
He will discuss how you will be able to obtain a copy of it at
the reunion. If enough interest is shown by those interested in
getting a copy, it will be available on a HD DVD. The cost
will be a maximum of $10 based on quantity ordered,

HELP NEEDED FOR THE MISSION FUND

Thank you for your generous support we have received recently for the Shamrock Society Mission fund. We are presently supporting one missionary from the Londonderry Branch with one other missionary being called later this year. One of the two missionaries we were supporting from Londonderry returned in December 2013. Elder Daniel Peacock of the Bangor 1st Ward is presently in the mission home in Provo preparing for his mission to Hong Kong. Daniel is the grandson of Brother and Sister Peter Ferguson who were baptized in Bangor by Elder Jim Sheffield and his companion during the Covey era. We have paid $8,000 of the $9,000 requested by the Londonderry Ward and all of Elder Peacock’s requested mission expenses. We have paid the money through the missionary department at Church headquarters. We have donated about $15,000 over the last year for Irish missionaries. We want to continue our support of missionaries in Ireland. This is one of the main goals given to us by President Covey as the Shamrock Society and I am certain brought unity to the “Mission of Destiny”. Over the years we have helped support over 110 missionaries called from Ireland. At one time we were supporting nine missionaries at the same time. We appreciate all the support received from the Irish Missionaries.

We have contributed over $150,000 to Irish Missionaries serving from Ireland. In addition to the mission donations in 2005 we sent over $10,000 to the Ireland Dublin Mission, Ireland Dublin Stake and Ireland Belfast Stake to purchase a complete copy of the 1901 Irish Census. The “Missionaries of Destiny” contributed 95% of those funds in 2005 to assist the stakes in their genealogy work.

WEB SITE

Shamrock Society’s e-mail address is: www.irishmission.com
Our website is partially working. We are currently trying to make the website available to all Irish Missionaries so they can have the ability to change their addresses and information. The website will be “password protected”. Thanks to Steve Carter, for his blogging site. You can access it at http://irishmission.blogspot.com/.

PLEASE PROVIDE US WITH YOUR CURRENT E-MAIL AND MAILING ADDRESS. IT ALLOWS US TO PASS ON NEWS OF THE IRISH MISSION TO YOU.

MISSIONARY NEWS

Many of the Shamrock Society members are currently serving missions. They are too numerous to mention all of them but we good reports have been received from Roundup, Montana where Elder Lyle Hill and his wife are serving their third mission. Also we have learned that Elder May and his wife are serving in the mission home in Seattle, Washington after being released from the Las Vegas Temple presidency. Elder May informed us that Elder Thomas Olson and his wife are currently serving as President and Matron of the Seattle Temple.

Sister Covey has been ill recently. Please keep her in your prayers and include her in your fast over the next few months. I am sure she would appreciate this. She is recovering at home. Her address is below if you would like to send a card or message.
